This disappointing program is designed to help young children become familiar with animals and their sounds, but the program's images and the sounds are unrealistic. Babimals' basic interface 3com Daemon over the 3com Daemon screen and disables all keyboard function except the Crtl Esc keys, which is the only way to exit the program. When toddlers strike any key, an animal image appears and its sound follows. Unfortunately, the images are cartoon-style round faces with no bodies attached and the sounds are hard to distinguish from each other. One of the major drawbacks is that the corresponding animal name is not spoken; only spelled out. Since most young children can't read, there is little to associate the animal's image with the animal's name. Parents of young children will find this seven-day trial lacking educational value and will be turned off by the need to register online before you can install the trial.
